The newest card Nvidia just pushed out the door is mass roxors at low pricing. It runs about 3% under yield of a GTX but prices for $200-$250. The holiday plus reasonable price has made it impossible to find in stock though. Buy the eVGA model (best anyway imo) and get Crysis for free.

The 8800GT scores roughly 5500 on 3Dmark06
My 7800GTX OC scores roughly 2100 on 3Dmark06

Did you get the new Presler and new intel chipset that just hit the market a weeek ago? The new Presler has killer performance gains on the older Q6700 for the same cost and the mobo supports the new DDR coming out. I've been waiting for over a year for the Presler to hit the shelves but I shall wait a little longer for Asus to release the new Intel boards.

That's a really good motherboard. The X38 chipset is incrediable~ why didn't you wait one week for the Penryn processors? Same price but 30-40% yield gain.

As long as you go with the full size motherboard and cooling, you're gtg. That super integrated motherboard and lack of cooling pwnt up your current PC, imo irl atm.

Put a bigger exhaust fan on it and use it as a space heater.

Well, the 8800 GT didn't stay as the bling bling value/performance card for long...

As of December 11, 2007, Nvidia released a 8800 GTS 512 which has the same G92 design but on a new board. For about $50 more, you get 16 more stream processors and 12 more filtering addresses (bringing the G92 up to the same streaming/filter capacity of a 8800 Ultra), 10% improvement on the core clock speed, 10% improvement on the shader clock, 18% improvement on the memory clock, and double the frame buffer (512MB). They also put in a new super quite fan into the GTS 512 due to the complaints on the loud fan in the GT. Overall, 16% performance increase.

Kinda weird for Nvidia to wtfpwn their own card so fast but it goes along with how they've marketed the last three new series of their cards, starting low and releasing up.
