Storing data vertically on the disk platter has made excellent changes in data retrieval and capacity numbers, supposedly also curing the super-paramagnetic effect. I don't think anything short of solid state storage will cure super-paramagneticism but she's going to give it a run for her money from what it looks like.

Also, a single Seagate 7200.10 can read burst at ~240MB/s making RAID not so much of a big upgrade for everyone. Power to Noise to Performance, she scores quite well.

During my recent HTPC build, I replaced my desktop drives with new seagate drives...the results are awesome. 15% Increase~

Yeah. ICH7 ownz~ my old WD2500KS (250GB/16MB @ 7200) scored about 310-315 optimized on ICH7. They're on a NV RAID board now so we'll see what difference the controller makes soon enough.

Funny thing about that test is I ran it with antivirus, which tends to rape HDTach results~ turned it off and it went up more. Image updated...
