Another liquid nitro overclock...

P4 651 overclocked past 8000MHz on a Asus (of course) P5B which passes the old record.

AFAIK the 8Ghz is complete BS, no stability tests, no nothing.

as for the 80core chip....

CBEA's new spec is 32 SIMD units @ 32GFLOPS a peice. So with less than half the cores, Cell beats Intels chip by 24GFLOPS

However, Intel's chip is rated at 65Watts heat output @ less than a volt.
That's what's really amazing.

ATI's taken a HUGE hit and it's almost the same situation with AMD... no real answer to their competitor in their product lineup.

ATI's latest 4800 roll out is trumping NV on price and performance but is it too late?

not really, nvidia recently pushed out the 55nm 8800GTX+ and it gets toped by the 4850.

I do think the HD4000 series is slightly late, it would have been nice to see a GPU of that class against the 8800GT a couple of months ago, but nevertheless the HD4000 series has put ATI back on the map IMO, and I think ATI may have caught nvidia with their pants down. If nvidia continues to offer lackluster GPU's (They do perform good, but not a huge leap over the previous generation, consider the performance difference between the 8 series and 9 series, and the difference between the 9 series and GTX 200 series, they're not large performance leaps), ATI could gain the upper hand if they turned out another series of GPUs of the HD4000 caliber. the problem is, Intel is also entering the GPU market. IMO their first product offering wont be astounding, but could catch some people off guard.

TL;DR: it's a good time to be shopping for a graphics card

Gotta disagree a little~ 4850 and 9800+ arn't in the same league. Break out DX10 where shader processors matter and the 9800+ doesn't even make the charts. The 4800 series is counting on DX10 titles (there is an quote from ATI actually saying that word for word fyi) and they believe they are ahead of their time in that arena. No thanks to NV's overclock solution.

Have you gone NV fanboy? I really hate AMD and I'm still coming around enough to give ATI their kudos. The 4800 series is the last gen from the original ATI company. All future releases have been run through AMD project management.
