These screenshots don't do the engine justice. I'll have to take some of my own system rendering the game when I get the time.

The kicker is Relic didn't even do cd protection because they said customers don't want to have to put a cd in everytime they play, patch, etc. It only uses cd key protection for online games. It's like the holy grail of computer games I swear...

One of my perferred single item order vendors Chief Value has the game for $39.99 because of a $5 instant rebate on a price of $45. Currently, the price is bugged but already contacted them and they are going to update it. It's only been out for a few weeks. I haven't heard one bad thing on the game so far anywhere, except for hardware requirements for slackers. It's winning awards everywhere on it's second week~ even got Gamespot's Editors Choice award already.

This game my rival my all time best game title given to Age of Empires...

seems alright. I'm very interested cause OFP's RTS maps were hella fun, especially when they spanned the huge islands that are ingame (100km square among the 4)

They've got a good demo out for it you can check out too btw on their site.

Here's some real screenshots that actually do the game justice:

ok so explain the gameplay. Are you actually present on the battlefield, able to kill/be killed, or are you some omnicient god that has a 3rd person view of everything, like AOE/EE

Traditional RTS~ third person. Depending on the mode, you die by getting wiped out/headquarters blown or you run out of tickets.

You don't pyshically control any unit's aiming ability as far as I know, which doesn't mean its not possible, but you deploy tactics down to a common level. If a tank is coming, they won't go put sticky bombs on it unless you tell them too because it takes away from your total ammutions. Same goes for having an engineer defuse a mine or build a wire fence. You take the actual role of "commander" in a base camp xx miles away.

Unit control reminds me alot of Command & Conqurer style. How you move them and use them greatly effects their overall power, ie MICRO.

Follow-Up: Teamplay is implemented amazingly. You share resource locations and terrortory but not the resources themselves. Buildings which are passsive upgrades also become team assets while anything you can control on your own remains yours. Some of the map designs are totally awesome too, creating either a single front of hundreds on any given map.

Unlike many other RTS, it's not all about resource whoring and land domination. I'd say its safe to say that the game is at least 25% player unit control along 50% strategy. Remaining being actual forces and what not. When you flank someone, you really flank them. Not any omg I can't beat the zerg...
