The next version of Battlefield for PC has been annouced. EA Dice has gone with the title "Battlefield: Heroes." They have decided to go with the theme "War is fun." The countries are made up fictional names and the center of the war is a dispute between the two nations over the Olympics Cyclist results. The graphics also reflect the title's theme. You literally start the game from their website so there is no offline play.

Each of the characters types that you can pick from has a distinct swagger, a hilarious voice, and a personality that's much sillier than what we're used to from Battlefield. The vehicles have all been super-deformed and exaggerated, looking similar to the units in the Advance Wars games. The same personality is applied here to getting from one place to another: players can hop onto a plane and ride on the wing, shooting at other planes.

This personality translates to the gameplay as well. Players can acquire a variety of special powers to level the playing field, such as the ability to shoot incendiary bullets, an area-of-effect health regeneration skill, and even more off-the-wall stuff like the ability to see through walls. The use of the skills helps to soften the often insurmountable challenges that vehicles can pose to a group of infantry: the developers on site noted that the battle of tank vs. infantry wouldn't be as one-sided as it was in previous games.

So, how much is the game? Well, it's Korean style...meaning free to play but upgrades cost you bling bling. FYI: Not a joke.

So this game is finally out of beta and it's worse now than when beta first started. Most people just crash or get disconnected in a loop forever. I don't know anyone who's been able to connect and stay connected so far...
