John Riccitiello, CEO of California based Electronic Arts, has warned that the industry's formulaic reliance on franchise and series sequels could lead to consumers drifting away from their favoured pastime.

"We're boring people to death and making games that are harder and harder to play," Riccitiello commented in a Wall Street Journal interview. "For the most part, the industry has been rinse and repeat. There's been lots of product that looked like last year's product, that looked a lot like the year before."

Very entertaining and ironic, imo.

well, they teach us in my mass media and all of my recording industry classes that the industry, as well as other industries such as film, television, or whatever said medium is that "if something is worth doing it worth overdoing", such as the saw movie franchise, which at the end of this month has saw v and vi scripts written, shoving the same old crap down everyone's throat as long as there is a niche group for that sort of thing. so battlefield 10 anyone?

LOL, I haven't seen SAW IV yet. I wonder if it is as good as the first ones. The first 3 actually had a decent plot flow, but I don't see how the 4th one will flow with the others. I mean if the old guy is really dead... which he probably isn't... but if he is... that gets rid of the badass character that made them good. The girl just didn't do it for me. She was sick, not twisted.
