So, anyone care for a two slotted video card that consumes 275 watts alone at a heavy load? This is one of those cases where I'm glad I got the 500$ power supply that has 4x2 independent PCIe cables...so I can have a video card array with 1.5GB of memory for $600. kk thx

Yeah I've been reading up on them and it seems they just might be the 'Conroe' of GPUs, but really they're not. They're more like the Prescott or Athlon XP... Lots of power, lots of heat, and a decent boost in performance. It's die resembles a dual core CPU than anything, and that's because it's architecture is built around it's dual unified shaders, which each have similarities with the Cell processor in that they yeah contain several shader elements which can each take on vertex, pixel, and other shading tasks.

Definatly going to be an excellent card to build a system around, if you have the money, these things are expensive.

Oh yeah benchmarks point out that these things strain the hell out of the CPU, turns out they can churn through data faster than the CPU can provide (this is esp.) true with an SLI setup.

Turns out this video card requires the newest Intel Core 2 Extreme to fully utilize it's power...video cards have offically surpassed the ability for the system bus and processo to keep up. Now they will have to use intelligence to make improvements....oh yeah, this is the first DX10 card. Check out Alan Wake, which requires a dx10 card. Crysis is rumored to require one as well...
