I don't know if you know this, but snakes are protected in Georgia. I kill one for kicks or just because I don't want to move it to another location, I get in trouble with the snake police.

I have a snake stick that I clamp on their head and lift them up from their head. I never touch them, they are at least 3 feet from me at all times. I don't get bit. Just kinda scarey. They are then placed in a sealed bucket, and I drive them down the road and release them to another location.

They are happy, I'm happy. They don't return, because they would just be content in that area as well as here (if not preferring the other area, because kids are running and screaming past them).

:-)

I love you

according to the georgia department of natural resources...NON-venomous snakes are protected (all 35 species of them). the 6 species of venomous snakes are not protected, as i understand it. i'll have to ask my friend (who works as a park ranger and game warden for the DNR) about it to make sure, though.

i DO know for certain that if i see a venomous snake on my land, it's going to die. i often have relatives/friends out at the pond, some of whom are very young. their safety comes first. i'm not going to watch a water moccassin go on its merry way, only to find him attached to my little 4 year old cousin Webb a week later. don't get me wrong; if i see a garter snake or rat snake, i'll leave them alone. but if it's dangerous, i'll kill it.
