Slashdot:

An anonymous reader sends us to ZeroPaid, which seems to be the only site in English to have picked up a story out of France involving Sony and piracy. Except this time the shoe is on the other foot.

The small software company PointDev learned that Sony BMG was using a pirated license for one of its system administration tools. PointDev got bailiffs to raid a Sony property and they found pirated software on four servers.

The source article (link is to a Google translation of French original) quotes PointDev's spokesman claiming that the BSA believes 47% of software used in corporations to be illegal — whether he is referring to Sony in particular is not clear in the translation

yea, we're talking about that in publishing atm, appearantly 50% of all their software is pirated, as well as hacking into people's registries via simply playing it on the computer, ex. when putting in the CD and WMP recognizes it as a SONY/BMG cd, but the latter has not been proved i dont think

I haven't seen any list of software that was deemed pirated, is there such a list?

http://www.pointdev.com/index-en.php#tab5 well at least one was admin tools and the license for the software seems to run around $400.00 maybe more since on the site they have an estimate option (maybe for customization for your business). Sad that a company with the wealth of Sony would pirate, though the higher echelon of directors probably didn't even know about it, that'll probably be a defense. That is was isolated to a section of the company, and they will fire all the responsible people. Dunno if they will get out of this one or not easily, too publicized.
