The bad thing is I understand above equation, it is using simple Calculus... however it's use is unknown to me. Time to google. For those that want more information:

A(k)2 is function that has two variable formulas
a-k and a+k

You can integrate both equations under the same integral if you reverse the bounds for a-k. You can factor out A^2 (this is actually something I'm not familiar with, because you are only suppose to be able to factor out a constant, however there is probably some rule that will allow for variable patterns).

Simple Algebra and you square out the binomials,then complete the square.

Then intergrate over the bounds a to 0 and then for the other 0 to a.

Then simplify for A.
